What is the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers? The Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) is a membership organization dedicated to fostering professional development through continuing education, peer group interaction, and the exchange of ideas and information relating to hazardous materials management. ACHMM comprises 69 Chapters with more than 5,000 members in 39 States, the District of Columbia, and Guam. The ACHMM also is the membership organization for individuals who have successfully completed the education, experience, and testing requirements necessary to become a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). The CHMM program is administered by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM). The Old Dominion Chapter of the ACHMM is based in Eastern Virginia, with members from Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Williamsburg, and Richmond areas. The Chapter is dedicated to fostering continuing education, peer group interaction, and technology exchange; presenting CHMM certification overview courses; and promoting the recognition of the CHMM certification as the premier standard for the profession.
